Frequently Asked Questions About Summer Camp

How do I register for camp?  To register, send a Dry Creek Summer Camp registration form and exactly $50.00 per person deposit to Dry Creek Baptist Camp * P.O. Box 580 * Dry Creek, LA * 70637.  No one is registered for camp without the registration form and deposits being in the camp office.

What about deposits?  A $50.00 deposit (per person) is required to pre-register for camp.  These deposits are non-refundable after 4pm the Thursday before the camp starts.  The balance is due on the day of camp, unless other arrangements have been made.

Does our church need to send counselors?  No, it is not required.  However, each camper without a counselor will be charged an additional $10.00.  If you send one counselor for boys and one for girls, this fee will not be assessed.

Will our group be in a cabin with another group?  This is highly likely, since our dorms can sleep 20 people.  Unless you have a group of 20, you will have another group sharing your cabin.

What do I bring to camp?  First of all, bring an expectant heart, a listening ear, and a positive attitude.  Also, bring your Bible, pillow, linens, blanket, towels, casual clothes, tennis shoes, personal items, and swim wear.  Everyone is encouraged to LABEL EVERYTHING they bring to camp, including and especially, their Bibles!

What is the dress code for camp?  Because Dry Creek Baptist Camp is a Christian Camp, we expect the highest moral standards in behavior and dress.  While we have no desire to become "legalistic clothing police", we know that some clothing, and also the way in which it is worn, can be offensive to others.  Our goal and prayer is for God to be glorified in all areas of His ministry at Dry Creek.  With this goal in mind, the following clothing guidelines for Dry Creek Baptist Camp will apply to everyone on our grounds:

ACCEPTABLE:

Pants, skirts, dresses, or mid-thigh length shorts for Tabernacle worship
Dresses or skirts should be no shorter than top of knees.
Mid-thigh length shorts are acceptable.
Neat jeans are always OK.
While going to and from the swimming pool, cover shirts, T-shirts, or towels should be used.
Modest one-piece swim suits are preferred for girls.  A mid-thigh length, dark colored
T-shirt must be worn over two-piece suits at all times.

NOT ACCEPTABLE:

Head wear in Tabernacle worship services
Shorts that are shorter than mid thigh or have writing across the rear
Halter tops, spaghetti straps, or short, bare-midriff shirts
Low-cut pants or shorts that reveal underwear or bare-midriff
Sleepwear of any type outside of dorm rooms
Swimming attire in the Dining Hall
Swim suit cover shirts of sheer material
Tank tops for boys
Artwork or text on clothing that promotes human destruction or disrespect - alcohol, drugs, music groups, profanity, etc.

GROUP LEADERS, PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUTH GROUP BEFORE COMING TO DRY CREEK.

While it is our wish to be able to focus on things more important than clothing, we are resolved to maintain holiness at Dry Creek.  Therefore, those dressed immodestly will be discreetly asked, by a camp leader of the same gender, to change clothing.  Group leaders will be contacted first, whenever possible.

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."  Romans 12:1-2

Please see Challenge Course page for Challenge Course Clothing Guidelines.

What about spending money?  The Snack Shack and Country Store Gift Shop are provided for campers.  Snack Shack credit cards may be purchased for children's camps.

What do I need to leave at home?  Cell phones, all music-playing devices, fireworks, firearms, knives, paint ball guns, water guns, shaving cream, skate boards, roller blades, scooters, tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, and non-prescription drugs.  Banned items will be checked in and kept until the end of camp week.  All items not harmful will be returned to the owner.

What about prescription drugs?  All prescription drugs must be checked in with the camp nurse during registration.  Medication must be in pharmacist's labeled bottle with patient's name and dosage instructions on it.  PLEASE REMIND YOUR CHILD TO PICK UP MEDICATIONS AT FIRST AID WHEN CAMP ENDS.
